Hi, Princess!

My darling granddaughter, I love you more than life itself. There’s been a lot of hateful talk in the world lately, and I just wanted to share a bit of what I tried to teach your mommy.

We should all celebrate our differences, and we should embrace all that makes us the same.

There has never been, and there will never be, another you. By gender, heritage, experiences, and any one of a hundred different things, everybody is different from everybody else, if you combine everything that makes a person a person. At the same time, we are all human. We are all people. We have a million more things that make us the same, than things that make us different.

No two snowflakes are identical, but they are all snowflakes!

Anyway, I’m not trying to tell you what to believe, that’s not my job. All I can do is tell you what I believe.

And always remember, I love you very very very very very much!

Jurassic Park

Hi, Princess!

Well, I just finished watching Jurassic Park. It was one of the first movies that I took your mommy to see when she was little. I was a little bit afraid she would get scared, but she didn’t. She liked it, but she didn’t love it.

I took her to a Disney on Ice, a couple of other movies, the zoo, even a circus. The circus was a little one, and all you could smell was the stinky elephants!

I just wanted her to be happy, and not bored. I hope I did a good job. I really did my best, and some wise person said that if you can say you did your best and you honestly believe that, then you shouldn’t feel guilty if things don’t work out.

I don’t know if that’s true or not.

Anyway, sorry I got so philosophical! Love you and miss you so much!

Hi, Princess!

I know it’s been a while since I wrote you. Sorry for that. Haven’t been feeling so great.

Well, let’s see what’s been happening. The Patriots won the Super Bowl. They’re my second favorite football team, after the Eagles. People are saying it was the greatest Super Bowl of them all, because the Patriots came from behind 28 to 3. Everyone thought they would lose, but they came back, and won it in the first ever Super Bowl overtime.

Well, you’re probably not that into football. But, The UConn Women’s Basketball team broke the record for most consecutive wins. In either mens’ or women’s sports. Remember when you were little I said if you decided to play basketball you should go there!

It’s going to snow tonight. Maybe some schools will be closed tomorrow. Maybe yours!

Well, that’s all for now.

Love you sooooooo much!
